Overview: Join a supportive respite care team working with children and teens with special needs including autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy. This paid internship offers flexible scheduling, hands-on caregiving experience, mentorship, and the opportunity to transition into a full-time role after the internship ends. Interns support families throughout San Diego County and can earn academic credit for 108 hours per quarter.

Key Information:

• Location: La Jolla, CA (serving families across San Diego County)

• Modality: In-person

• Compensation: $18.00–$20.00/hour, with an additional $2/hour per additional child

• Estimated Time Commitment: Minimum 108 hours/quarter, flexible part-time to full-time between 12 PM–12 AM

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a current college student

• 2+ years of childcare experience (paid or unpaid)

• Special needs experience is a plus but not required

• Must have reliable, insured transportation

• Must own a data-capable phone

• Willing to complete training and obtain CPR/First Aid certification (sponsored if needed)

• Able to earn academic credit and commit to mentorship, SMART goals, and regular staff check-ins
