Organization Overview:
Silver Lining Mentoring (SLM) pairs youth impacted by foster care (ages 7 and older) with volunteer mentors through its Community Based Mentoring Program. Mentors commit to a minimum of one year, though most matches last an average of 4.5 years. Mentors meet with mentees in their communities for at least eight hours a month, participating in activities that promote skill development and relationship building. The program is supported by clinically-trained social workers who provide guidance and emotional support to both youth and mentors.
Build-A-Match (BAM) is a cohort program designed for younger youth in residential placements. It introduces youth to mentoring through a six-week workshop series, after which they transition to the Community Based Mentoring program for long-term support.
