Organization Overview:
The New York State Mentoring Program pairs mentors with young people to provide guidance, support, and encouragement. The program aims to help youth build self-confidence, develop life skills, and pursue academic and personal goals. Mentors commit to working with students in schools, community organizations, and other settings across the state, fostering positive relationships that contribute to the mentees' overall development.

Location: New York State (various locations)
Modality: In-person (mentorship takes place at schools and community centers)
Compensation: Unpaid volunteer position
Estimated Time Commitment: Typically 1 hour per week for a minimum of one school year
Eligibility Requirements:
Open to adults aged 21 and older
Must complete an application, background check, and training program
U.S. citizenship or legal residency required
Mentors should demonstrate a commitment to supporting youth and be willing to develop a positive, long-term relationship with their mentee
