Overview: The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for high school students that recognizes academic excellence and awards undergraduate scholarships. Students enter by taking the PSAT/NMSQT and meeting entry and participation requirements. Each year, over 1.3 million students compete, with 7,580 scholarships available in 2026.
