Organization Overview: The CSUSM Future Scholars Program provides an inclusive college experience tailored for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The program focuses on academic, vocational, and independent living skills to support participants in achieving meaningful employment and greater independence.

  • Location: California State University San Marcos (CSUSM)

  • Modality: In-person

  • Compensation: Not applicable

  • Estimated Time Commitment: Full academic year (Fall and Spring semesters)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 by the program start date

  • Documented intellectual disability

  • High school diploma or certificate by program start

  • Strong interest in pursuing competitive employment post-program

  • Comfortable with a varied schedule and motivated to engage in academic, vocational, and social activities

  • Ability to manage daily needs and navigate the environment with minimal supervision (or with prearranged supports)

  • Effective communication abilities (inclusive of communication devices)

  • Ability to interact positively with peers, follow rules, and accept direction
