Organization Overview: The San Diego Air & Space Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, brings the history of aviation and space exploration to life through artifacts from the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and other pioneers.

Bill Gibbs, a San Diego businessman and founder of what is now Montgomery Field, provided funds for the purpose of providing financial assistance for students pursuing a career in aviation, or an aerospace related field, with emphasis placed on those who plan to pursue a technical specialty.

Key Information: If you are a senior graduating from a San Diego County High School with a strong aviation or aerospace career interest, and want to pursue a four year degree in math, physics, science or engineering considering applying for this scholarship! You have the opportunity to win $2,500 to $4,000.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Graduating seniors of San Diego County high schools who will be attending a four year college.

  • Academic achievement.

  • Strong aviation/aerospace career interests.

  • Pursuing a degree in math, physics, science, or engineering.
