To apply, you must be:
A full-time resident of New Jersey
Plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States on a full-time basis
High school senior graduating the year you apply for the scholarship (Class of 2025)
The criteria for the BBB Tom Hart Memorial Scholarship include:
Academic (40%): Enclose a copy of your most recent transcript. Describe your post-secondary education plans. Describe any awards received relating to your academic achievement.
Essay (40%): How will your future career and your personal contributions to society help make the world a better place? The essay must be 500 words or less, single-spaced on one 8.5” x 11” page.
Leadership (10%): Describe any extracurricular, work, or school-related activities. Include awards/honors or offices held.
Community Service (10%): Describe activities outside of school and within your community, such as religious or special community involvement. Include awards/honors or offices held.
Additional Required Documentation:
Completed entry form
Two (2) letters of recommendation (e.g., church, school official, coach, employer, community leader). Each letter should be 300 words or less, single-spaced on one 8.5” x 11” page.
Please retain a copy of your completed entry. All submitted entries become the property of Better Business Bureau (BBB) and cannot be returned.
