Organization Overview: Autism Tree Book Club, also known as the Typers Social Club, was founded by Autism Tree Volunteer Danielle Levy and is co-hosted by Autism Tree Teen Otto Lana. This inclusive club encourages individuals, especially those who are non-speaking or rely on typing, to engage with literature, honing communication skills and building friendships through books. Allies, or those interested in supporting and learning about typing as a communication method, are also welcome.

  • Compensation: Volunteer participation

  • Estimated Time Commitment: Monthly or as scheduled for book club meetings

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to all, particularly non-speaking or unreliably speaking individuals who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices

  • Allies, including family members, friends, educators, therapists, and anyone supportive of AAC and typing, are welcome to attend
